Salutations to Devi Saraswati who is very patient

May Goddess Saraswati, who is fair like the jasmine-colored moon, and whose pure white garland is like frosty dew drops; who is adorned in radiant white attire, on whose beautiful arm rests the Veena, and whose throne is a white lotus; who is surrounded and respected by the gods, protect me. Please remove my lethargy, sluggishness and ignorance.

Ya kundedu was written 7,000 years ago. By reciting this chant, we go back to history and pray with our ancestors to the Goddess Saraswati. This is the Hindu deity of wisdom, art, and music is worshipped in India and Nepal. Saraswati together with Parvati and Lakshimi comprise Tridevi or the Trinity. These three forms help Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva in creating, sustaining, and recycling the Universe. This goddess was first mentioned in the Rigveda, compilation of Vedic Sanskrit hymns and has become an important divinity from the Vedic period until the modern period of Hindu tradition.

Yaa Devi Sarva-Bhutessu Vishnumaayeti Shabditaa
Namas-Tasyai Namas-Tasyai Namas-Tasyai Namo Namah

To the Divine Goddess who resides in all existence in the form of universal mother

To the Divine Goddess who resides in all existence in the form of energy

To the Divine Goddess who resides in all existence in the form of intelligence

To the Divine Goddess who resides in all existence in the form of true wealth

We bow to her. We bow to her. We bow to her continuously.”

It translates to:

“Goddess Durga is the omnipresent one. She is the personification of the Universal Mother. She is the embodiment of power, peace and intelligence in all beings. I worship her with all devotion so that she blesses me with happiness and prosperity.”

This is a mantra of spiritual awakening as well as mental, physical, and emotional healing. The goddess helps and gives blessings to those who practice so they can resolve problems and sufferings. The practice must begin with fasting and last for 16 successive Fridays.

Maa Durga Mantras

Maa Durga epitomizes genuine womanhood. The Hindu goddess is the Mother of the whole Universe. She looks after the universe and protects all human beings. Maa Durga eliminates the veil of ignorance. She uplifts her children from grief and misfortunes. This goddess nurtures, protects, and if needed, destroys. She loves as intensely as she hates. Maa Durga is the real manifestation of Shakti, the ancient cosmic energy. She is the primary essence of the entire cosmos.

Maa Durga is acknowledged as the “reigning goddess in Hinduism.” Followers can ask for her protection against all evils and pessimism. We can offer special prayers to her during Navratri, a Hindu festival celebrated in autumn for nine consecutive nights. She takes up nine forms which are Shilaputri, Brahmacharni, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. These forms are associated with preservation of the universe.

MAA DURGA DHYAN MANTRA

“Om jataa jut samaayuktamardhendu krit lakshnam

Lochanyatra sanyuktam padmendu sadya shan naam ”

This should come before all other Durga Mantras. It helps in maintaining focus on professional and academic concerns. It is an essential chant for all learners or students. The mantra aims at bringing the divine icon of Devi Durga before our eyes. It establishes the stage for Pujas (reverence for the god or spirit) and worship by devotees.

“Sarvaa baadhaa vinirmukto dhan dhaanya sutaanvitah

Manushyo matprasaaden bhavishyati Na sanshayah”
